Why FD Analytical exists
After seventeen years working inside large listed businesses — FTSE 100, NYSE-listed and unlisted plc level — I started to notice something that didn't sit right.
The financial discipline, planning, and decision-making available at PLC level was almost entirely absent in the small and medium-sized businesses I knew outside of work. Owners I respected hugely — clever, capable people running real companies — were making decisions on instinct and last year's numbers, when far better information was available. Just nobody was bringing it to them.
FD Analytical was founded in 2008 to close that gap. Real management thinking. Plain-English advice. The kind of financial partnership that helps a business owner make decisions with confidence, not crossed fingers.
Seventeen years on, that's still the job. The clients have grown — from one-person limited companies to £30m turnover SMEs — but the standard hasn't changed.

How Adam works with clients
Plain English. Always.
If you can't understand the advice, the advice isn't working.
Adam doesn't hide behind jargon, doesn't pad meetings with technical language, and doesn't expect clients to learn accountancy.
That's his job. Yours is to run your business.
Direct, not diplomatic
When clients ask "what would you do?", Adam tells them.
You won't get fence-sitting answers or three options dressed up as advice.
You'll get his honest view, the reasoning behind it, and the responsibility for the call still rests with you — but you'll have what you need to make it well.
Year-round, not year-end
Six conversations a year is the minimum. Quarterly check-ins.
Tax planning before deadlines, not after them. Strategic input when decisions are being made, not after they've been signed off.
That's the standard — for every client, regardless of fee level.
Who Adam works with
FD Analytical clients aren't a single type. They're owner-managed businesses across construction, eCommerce, property, healthcare, hospitality and professional services — from one-person contractor companies to £30m turnover SMEs.
The thing they share isn't industry. It's mindset.
They want clarity, not complexity.
Plain answers.
Honest pricing.
Advice they can actually use.
They want to grow, not just survive.
The numbers on the spreadsheet matter — but so do the decisions they enable.
They want a partner, not a supplier.
Someone who understands their business, not just their tax return.
